Combo Meal customization using the Tagrain App for Android

Introduction

Tagrain hospitality, though available as a plugin, is more of an industry vertical. This vertical is targeted towards small cafes and restaurants who are selling food items like Burgers, Wraps, Sandwiches, Muffins, Pastries and beverages like coffee, tea and bottled drinks.

These Cafes either sell prepackaged and already prepared food items or food items that can be further modified on customer’s request. For example the customer can ask for an extra slice of cheese in their burger OR can ask for an extra shot in the coffee OR can ask to remove ice cubes from the cold drink.

These and such Cafes are further characterized by the fact that they may have a small seating area of a few tables where the food is served to the customers.

Overview – Combo Products

More than one Menu Items can be combined to be sold as a Combo Product. In Hospitality, combo products are the meal deals that you can configure to be sold on the POS.
A combo product is a combination of different menu items (burgers, chips, drinks, salads, pastries, etc.) that are configured to be sold together.

Steps to customize a Combo Meal using the Tagrain App for Android

Tagrain App for Android allows you to customize a meal at the POS. In this section we are going to cover the steps you need to perform as a cashier to customize your “Combo Meal”  using the Tagrain App for Android.

The Meal can be customized at the POS screen from the Combo Meal popup menu. This customization can be done on each element of the “Combo Meal” - Main, Side, and Drink.

Step 1. Log in to your Tagrain App for Android. Open the register. You should see a separate tile for the “Combo Meals” that you have created. The screenshot below depicts an Extra Value Meal and a Celebration Party Meal. As an example, we have picked up an “Extra Value Meal”.

Step 2. Click on the “Main” sub menu on the side pane. It will display the “Main Element” that you may have defined for the “Extra Value Meal” combo. You have the choice to pick either a Chicken Burger or a Cheese Burger as your main element. For the purpose of this article, we have picked up a Chicken Burger.

Step 3.  Click on the “Customise” hyperlink. This will open the modifier selection popup screen. All the modifiers that you may have defined for your Combo Meal would appear here. See: Modifiers and Ingredients in Tagrain.

Step 3. Select the desired “Modifiers”. In this article, for demo purposes, we have opted to go in for some “Extra” Cheese and “Extra” Mustard Sauce.

You might have observed that upon adding “Extra” quantities of Cheese and Mustard Sauce, there is an additional amount of $0.25 + $0.25 = $0.50 that gets added to the total.

Click the “Select” button once done. This will take you back to the Extra Value Meal popup screen.

Step 4. Click on the “Side” sub menu on the left pane. It will display the “Side Element” that you have defined for the “Extra Value Meal” combo. Select the desired “Modifiers”. In this article, for demo purposes, we have opted  for 1 quantity “Fries Medium”.  Since “Fries Medium” was not set as the default  for the “Side” element, there is an extra amount of $0.25 added to the total.

You might have observed that upon adding 1 quantity of “Fries Medium” there is an additional amount of $0.25 that gets added to the total.

Click the “Select” button once done. This will take you back to the Extra Value Meal popup screen.

Step 5. Click on the “Drink” sub menu on the left pane. It will display the “Drink Element” that you may have defined for the “Extra Value Meal” combo. Select the desired “Modifiers”. In this article, for demo purposes, we have opted  for 1 quantity of “Fountain Coke Medium”.  Since “Fountain Coke Medium” was not set as the default  for the “Drinks” element, there is an extra amount of $0.25 added to the total.

As stated earlier in the article, you can customize each and every modifier element if that is the way it has been configured. For Example, we have the option to customize “Fountain Coke Medium” with “No” ice or  “Extra” ice because the “Extra Value Meal” has been configured that way.

A fully customized “Extra Value Meal” would look like the screenshot below.

Step 6. Once added to the Transaction Screen you as a Cashier need to click on the “Pay” button to proceed to the “Select Table” screen. Depending upon the type of order - dine in or take away,
you can select a Table Type.

Once you are done with the Table selection, you must click on a payment method to process the payment. This will bring up the Sale Complete screen.
