Introduction
Multiple Units of Measurement Plugin is a software module that seamlessly integrates with Tagrain and allows retailers to further extend the capabilities of their TAGRAIN edition. It allows them to add additional features to the existing Tagrain application. With this Plugin activated, retailers can choose to maintain inventory in their choice of UoM and sell a product in different UoM.
Once activated, this plugin cannot be deactivated.
Types of UoM available in Tagrain
With the Multiple Units of Measurement Plugin activated Tagrain allows you to define and manage Multiple Units of Measure. It allows you to create/define the following three types of UoM:
Base UoM
Base Purchase UoM
Base Sales UoM
Is Inventory Base UOM
This is the base Unit of Measure and will always be 1. For example setting 1 (one) Can as Is Inventory Base UoM will mean that 100 in stock would = 100 Cans, setting Case as Inventory Base UoM would mean that 100 in stock would = 600 Cans.
Is Purchase Base UoM
This is the Unit of Measure that is normally used for purchasing the product. This unit of measure will be automatically selected when purchasing that product. See: Purchase Order
Is Sales Base UoM
This is the unit of measure that is automatically selected on Sales Transactions i.e. at the point of sale
Let us try to understand these with the above example.
We have created a standard product (PT-1001) “Polo T-Shirt”.
Picture 1
Since the “Multiple Units of Measurement” Plugin was purchased and activated, the application allowed us to switch ON the Multiple UoM setting under “Advance Setting”.
Picture 2
Switching ON the Multiple UoM setting enabled an additional section dedicated to Multiple UoM settings.
Picture 3
Let us look at the UoM types mentioned above and see how they are governed by these settings.
When the product PT-1001 is purchased the “Box of 12” will be considered as the base purchase unit of measurement, when it is sold at the point of sale (POS), “Pair” will be considered at the base sales unit of measurement.
We saw that with the Units of Measurement Plugin activated a single product (PT-1001) had a different stocking unit of Measurement, different sales ordering unit of measure, and a different purchasing unit of measure.
