Introduction
Modern retail business units include more information than just the product code in the barcodes. For example batch numbers, prices, weights, etc. in the barcode.
The Print Labels section in Tagrain not only allows you to include more information than just the product code but also gives you the ability to design your own labels and receipts.
Home > Inventory > Print Labels
Prerequisites
The only prerequisite to design and print your own barcodes and labels is that the Label Printing plugin should be subscribed to and activated. This plugin when activated allows you to design and print your own barcodes and labels in predefined sizes. It also lets you include more information than just the product code in the barcodes like batch numbers, prices, weights, etc.
Print Barcode Labels Screen
The print label settings can be configured and managed from the Print Barcode Label screen.
Navigate to Home > Inventory > Print Labels. This will open the Print Barcode Label screen. This screen is split into 2 sections.
The various fields and settings on this page are explained in the section below:
Section on the Left allows you to manage settings related to Label Printers and Label Dimensions, and Information to be displayed on the Labels.
Section on the Right allows you to look up and identify products in the Store(s) selected for Label and Barcode printing.
Left Section - Print Barcodes Labels Screen
As mentioned earlier in the Screen Based Guide, the section on the left allows you to manage settings related to Label Printers and Label Dimensions, and Information to be displayed on the Labels.
Tagrain has been tested to work great with Dymo Printers. However, if you don’t have one, the application should just work fine with Generic Printers.
The DYMO Label Printer supports continuous printing. In order to ensure that your labels are printed correctly, you must select the Continuous Feed radio button.
Then select a Label Type from the drop down. Label Type is nothing but the dimensions (length x breadth) of your labels to be printed on a Dymo Label Printer.
In case you are using a Generic Printer to print labels and barcodes, you can select the Label Sheets radio button.
Then select the number of labels to be printed on an A4 sheet, from the available options. In the preview on the right, you should see the total count (number) of labels that would be printed.
In the screenshot above, we have selected A4 - Avery 3 x 11 as the option. The preview on the right displays the total count: 3 x 11 = 33
The Skip Label Count setting is available for non Dymo Label Printers and allows you to skip the labels from printing. You can imagine an A4 size paper that is divided into grids (Rows and Columns), and each grid represents a Label.
The count specified in the Skip Label Count field will determine the number of grids to be skipped.
When you set 1 as the Skip Label Count value and give the Print command, the printer will start printing the Labels from the 2nd grid, skipping the 1st grid. This can be well seen in the Print Preview section.
When you set 0 as the Skip Label Count value, no grid is skipped
When you set 1 as the Skip Label Count value, 1 grid is skipped
When you set 2 as the Skip Label Count value, 2 grids are skipped
Under the Include In Print section, toggle the switch ON adjacent to the information that you want to include in the Barcode. You can include some or all of the below information:
-- Price
-- Barcode
-- Product Code
-- Description
-- Barcode Number
Thie Include In Print setting is common for both Dymo Label Printers and Generic Label Printers.
Right Section - Print Barcodes Labels Screen
As mentioned earlier in the Screen Based Guide, the section on the right allows you to look up and identify products in the Store(s) selected for Label and Barcode printing. This setting is common for both Dymo Label Printers and Generic Label Printers.
-- You can select a Store from the list of available stores.
-- You can perform a product lookup using the Product Code, Product Description or the Product Barcode, commonly known as the UPC code.
