Sale using The Tagrain App for iPad

Introduction

The Tagrain App for iPad has been specially designed for retailers to help conduct hassle free sale transactions on the fly. It helps them expand their business portfolio and maximize profits. All they require is to set up their Tagrain App for iPad on their iPad powered device. See: Setting up Tagrain App for iPad.

For ease of understanding, we have broken down the sale procedure in steps below:

  1. Perform a Product Search
  2. Add the Product to the transaction
  3. Perform a Customer Search
  4. Add the Customer to the transaction
  5. Apply Discount (if any)
  6. Levy Surcharge (if any)
  7. Add notes to the transaction
  8. Take payment
For this article, we have assumed that you have successfully logged in to your Tagrain APP for iPad, opened your register, and are ready to perform a sale. See: Web Register

Perform a “Product Search” to add some products to the sale.

There are multiple ways to search a product that you want to sell in Tagrain using the Tagrain App for iPad. You can search for the product that the customer has ordered by using either the search bar, or by selecting the product itself via the product group tile, or by using your barcode scanner to scan in the product barcode. You can use the iPad’s camera to scan the product barcode. Doing so will automatically add the product on the transaction screen.

Add the Product to the transaction

To add the products searched above, you need to tap on that product. This will add the product on the transaction screen.




You can sell a product in multiple units of measure if the Multiple Units of Measurement Plugin has been  Purchased and subscribed. For example: You can sell a shirt in different Units of Measure like a Pair (2 Shirts), BOX (6 Shirts), etc. 

You as a cashier will need to tap on the product, Polo T Shirt in this case to bring up the UoM screen as shown in the image below.



Select from the available options - Each, Pair, Pack of Six, or Box of Twelve. In this example we selected “Pair”. Click on the “Save” Button. 

The product gets added to the Transaction Screen as shown in the image below.



The Multiple Units of Measurement setting has to be enabled under the "Advanced Settings" upon Plugin activation to accomplish this.

Perform a Customer Search

If you'd like to record the sale you've made against a customer's name, you must add that customer to the sale. There are 2 possibilities here. Customer’s name might already exist in the database, as she might have registered herself with Tagrain at some point of time or he may be a customer who has just walked in for the first time in your store.

If she is an existing customer, you can look him up by entering his details (code, name, email, or phone) in the customer search bar.



If she is a new customer, you must add him to the database from the new customer screen. You can add a new customer using the Tagrain App for iPad or using the Tagrain Web Application.

Add the Customer to the transaction

To add a customer searched above, you can either tap on the customer’s name or pick a customer name from the customer list screen. This will add the customer to your sale. You'll see his name appear above the line products in the top right corner. See: Cashiers Guide to Tagrain App for iPad




In case you are not able to see the “Add Delivery Option” button on the Transaction Screen, there are a couple of things that you need to check:

Check to see if you have a valid subscription for the Customer Order and Delivery Management Plugin.

Ensure that the settings - Enable Collect from Store and Enable Ship from Store are enabled under Global Settings. Global Settings must be activated using the Tagrain Web interface to facilitate marking of orders for Store Pickup or Home Delivery.

Apply Discount (if any)

You may want to extend a discount to your customer to attract more sales. You can apply a discount on a product to sell, either at the line level or at the transaction level. You can apply a discount either as an amount or a percentage. For the purpose of this article, we have applied a 10% discount at the line level and 5% discount at the transaction level. However, this is an optional step.



Levy Surcharge (if any)

Tagrain App for iPad allows you to levy a surcharge on the transaction. There are 3 surcharges that come along with the demo data. They are Gift Wrap, Shipping, and Surcharge for Tax. Additional surcharges can also be defined using the Tagrain Web interface. This is an optional step.


Tagrain allows you to refund the Surcharge applied on a Sale transaction. To achieve this the  switch Refundable must be set to ON. See: Surcharges



Please Note: Tax amount that is displayed on the POS screen will include the tax applied, if any, on the surcharge. Applying Surcharge on a transaction is an optional step.



Add notes to the transaction

Tagrain App for iPad allows you to add custom notes to a transaction. Like discounts, you can add custom notes either at the line level or at the transaction level. See: Using Tagrain App for iPad
Adding a note at the line level can prove useful when selling customized orders. If a customer buys some trousers, shirts and shoes and wants the trousers to be altered. To achieve this, you can leave a note at the line level.

Collect Payment

The final step is to collect the payment for the sale made. You need to tap the green "Pay" button on the transaction screen to bring up the payments window. Select a Payment Mode on the screen from among the payment options available to process the payment.



The payment options will vary for a Walk-in-Customer and a Registered Customer.

For walk-in customers the payment can be processed either in Cash or Credit Card or Gift Card.

For registered customers, additional options like Loyalty, Store Credit and On-Account are enabled upon plugin activation.
Once you have followed the steps detailed in this article, you should all be able to perform a quick sale using your Tagrain App for iPad.
