Promotion includes all those activities that you perform as a retailer to encourage customers to buy more products. Buy Jeans Get Tees @ 15% discount; Buy 3 Shirts for $199; Buy Bags, Save 15%; and Spend $1000, Save 10%; are some good examples of promotion. Tagrain allows you to deploy Promotions that are configured within the application to automatically apply when a certain condition is met. This way you or your cashier is not required to remember all the promotions that are currently in operation.
While configuring promotions it is possible that you may have a product covered in more than one promotion. To ensure that the customer gets the best deal, the application allows you to define the order in which the promotions should be applied. In cases where the order is NOT specified, the promotion that was created earlier (based on date / time) takes precedence.
Promotions can be created by any user who has the required permissions. Gather all the required information about the products that you would like to include in a promotion. Before creating a promotion, please ensure that you create the following:
Product
Product Group
Customer
Customer Group
Navigate to Home > Inventory > Promotion to open the Promotion List View Screen. All the existing Promotions are listed on this screen.
Click the Add Promotion button to open the Create Promotion Screen.

Don’t forget to toggle the Is Active switch to ON. This marks this promotion as active. Those promotions which are not marked as active cannot be applied on the POS terminal.
This promotion can be applied to some or all your retail stores. By default, promotions are applicable to all the stores, unless otherwise configured.
Specify the customer group where this promotion would apply. Though this step is optional, specifying promotion to a group helps you automate the process. This way promotion is applied to only those customers who are a part of that customer group.
Any promotion that you define in Tagrain has sides- the Buy Side and the Get Side.
The Buy Side allows you to define and configure the products on the Buy Side of promotion.

The Get Side in case of Buy X for a Fixed Price promotion is called the Fixed Price accordion.
This accordion allows you to specify a fixed price, in the For field, for the products on the Get Side. This fixed price is the amount that a customer will pay for the product on which this promotion was applied. For Example, in case of Buy 3 Women’s Bag for $99 you need to specify $99 as the Fixed Price amount.
The Get Side in case of Buy X and Save an Amount Promotion is called the Save an Amount accordion.
This accordion allows you to specify a % or an amount that your customer would save if this promotion was applied. This amount reflects in the transaction total. For Example, in the case of Buy 3 Women’s Bag and Save 15% you need to specify 15% in the Save field.
The Get side in case of Spend X and Save an Amount Promotion is called the Save an Amount accordion.
This accordion allows you to specify an amount or % that your customer would save if this promotion was applied. This amount reflects in the transaction total. For Example, in the case of Spend $1500 and Save 15% you need to specify 15% in the Save field.
Once you have defined the promotion (s), click the Save button to return to the Promotion List View Screen. The new promotion(s) that you just created is displayed on this screen.
The application allows you to set the order in which the promotions are to be applied on the Web Register in cases where a product is covered in more than one promotion. This means that all the promotions that you define follow an order. It is this sequence the application would follow when applying for promotion. You can rearrange this order by dragging the promotions up or down in the Promotions List View Screen by clicking the Reorder Promotions button. However, if you fail to define this order, the promotion that was created first will get applied based on its creation time.
This Reorder Promotions rule is applicable to the following promotions:
Buy X | Get Y
Buy X | For a fixed price
Buy X | Save an amount
However, the Spend X | Save an amount Promotion is an exception to this rule.
Spend X | Save an amount Promotion is not considered when defining the ordering sequence of the promotions. This means that this Promotion will also not reflect on the Promotion Reorder screen. Let us try to explain this with an example.
You have created the following Promotions in Tagrain:
Spend $1000, Save 10%
Spend $2000, Save 20%
Spend $3000, Save 30%
As stated earlier, every promotion that you define in Tagrain follows an order with Spend X | Save an amount being the only exception. This means in cases where there are multiple Spend X | Save an amount Promotions defined in the application, the order of hierarchy will be based on the maximum spend mentioned across all the Spend X promotions.
The screenshot below shows the Promotion Reorder Screen. Please note that the Spend X | Save and amount Promotion is not reflected on this Promotion Reorder screen.
