How to activate the Elavon Payment Processor plugin?

We will cover the steps to activate the Elavon Payment Processor plugin.


Please Note - Tagrain Elavon Payment Processor has been tested with the Ingenico Link 2500, If you intend to use a different device then please contact us in advance to confirm compatibility with Tagrain.



Introduction

Elavon Payment Processor plugin is a software module that seamlessly integrates with Tagrain POS and allows you to offer a quick, seamless and secure payment experience to your customers. Once set up, cashiers can take credit and debit card payments from customers at the POS using the Elavon Payment Device. This integration helps your cashier by removing the need to manually enter the amount and card details at the POS. 



Available only for the USA and Canada, Elavon Payment Processor plugin allows you to accept normal and contactless NFC credit and debit card payments from all major brands using the Elavon Payment Device.


The Elavon Payment Processor  plugin comes free with Tagrain. Activating this plugin will have no impact on your existing subscription. See: Subscription Management in Tagrain 


Subscribing to Elavon Payment Processor plugin is a multi-step process. 


  • Activate the plugin

  • Configure the Elavon Payment Type

  • Generate Elavon Payment Device ID



Activate the plugin

You can activate the Elavon Payment Processor plugin from the Purchase Subscription page. You can approach this page via the plugins screen or the Manage Accounts section.


From the plugins Screen

Step 1. Navigate to Home > plugins. This will open the plugins Grid View Screen. This screen is divided into five sections



All

Displays all the plugins, irrespective of the fact whether they are active or not.


Active

Displays those plugins that have an active subscription.


In-Active

Displays those plugins that the user has not yet subscribed to.


Recommended

Displays those plugins that, when subscribed, allow the user to upscale his business.


Integrations

Displays all the third-party plugins seamlessly integrating with Tagrain to extend its capabilities further.



Step 2. Navigate to the “Inactive” section. You should see the Elavon Payment Processor plugin listed here. Click on the Activate button on the Elavon Payment Processor plugin tile to proceed to the plugin Activation Popup screen.



Step 3. On the plugin Activation Popup screen you will have two choices:


OK And Continue Selecting

Click this button if you wish to add more plugins to your existing Tagrain edition.


Review And Checkout

Click this button if you wish to add this single plugin to your existing Tagrain edition.


Click the Review & Checkout button to proceed to the Purchase Subscription page.



Step 4. Navigate to the Choose Your Subscription section on the Purchase Subscription page. You should see the Elavon Payment Processor plugin ticked / selected for activation. 




When you approach the Purchase Subscription page from the Plugins screen, you will see that the Elavon Payment Processor plugin is pre-selected (ticked) for activation. 




Step 5. Review your order summary and click on the Confirm & Pay button in the Cart Detail section to proceed with activation.


Once the Elavon Payment Processor plugin is activated, an additional option for the Elavon Payment Type appears on the Payment Type screen.  



From the Manage Account Section

Step 1. Navigate to the admin section in the top right corner of the screen and click Manage Account


Step 2. On the Subscription screen that opens, click the Upgrade button to reach the Purchase Subscription page.



Step 3. Navigate to the Choose Your Subscription section on the Purchase Subscription page. You should see the Elavon Payment Processor plugin unselected. You simply need to put a tick against the activation check box on the Elavon Payment Processor plugin Tile to mark the plugin as Active.




When you approach the Purchase Subscription page from the Manage Account section, you will see that the Elavon Payment Processor plugin is not pre-selected (ticked) for activation. You will have to manually put a tick against the activation check box on the plugin tile to mark the plugin as Active.




Step 4. Review your order summary and click on the Confirm & Pay button in the Cart Detail section to proceed with activation.


Once the Elavon Payment Processor plugin is activated, an additional option for the Elavon Payment Type appears on the Payment Type screen.  



Configure the Elavon Payment Type

Step 1. Navigate to Home > Setup > Payment Type. This will open the Payment Type Screen. 



Step 2. Click the Add Payment Type button to open the Create Payment Type screen. 



Step 3. Specify the name for the Payment Type. In this illustration, we have specified “Elavon” as the payment type name.


Step 4. Select a Payment Type from the list of predefined payment methods. Each payment method is treated differently by the application. In this illustration, we have selected “Elavon” as the payment type name.



Additional Payment Types like Elavon, Gift Certificates, Store Credit, and On Account, are available on activation of the Elavon Payment Processor, the Gift Cards and Credit Memo, and the Customer and Credit Management plugins respectively




Step 5. Specify the order in which you want the payment types to be displayed on the Web Register. For example, if you want the Cash method to be displayed first in the list, you need to mention its display order as 1.


Step 6. Toggle the Is Active switch ON if you want this payment type to appear in the list of payment methods on the Web Register.



Step 7. Click the Save button to save the settings to create the Payment Type and exit the “Payment Type Card” screen. 


Map the Elavon Payment Type to the POS Terminal

You must map the Elavon payment type that you just created to your POS terminal to be able to accept debit and credit card payments using the Elavon Payment Device


The steps to map the Elavon payment type are explained below:


Step 1. Navigate to Home > Setup > Store Management. This will open the Store Management screen.



Step 2. Click on the POS button to open the POS List View Screen. This screen displays a list of POS already defined in the application.




Step 3. Click on the Edit button on the POS List View Screen to open the settings page for the corresponding POS. You should see the Payment Device ID  field.



Step 4. Click on the Generate button next to the Payment Device ID field. This will open the Elavon Device ID Generation pop up screen. 



Step 5. Enter the Device Pairing Code and the Device Friendly Name in the respective fields. Click the Save button. 




The Device Pairing Code is displayed on the device when you power on the device. For the Device Friendly Name, you can specify a name of your choice. For illustration we have specified Link 2500. 




When you click the Save button, on the Elavon Device ID Generation pop up screen, the Elavon Payment Device Id is generated and populated in the Payment Device ID field. 




Accepting Payment Using the Elavon Payment Device

In the section below, we will cover the steps explaining how to receive credit and debit card payments from a customer using Elavon as the Payment Type.


Scan a few products to the transaction grid and click the Pay button to reach the Payment screen.




The Payment screen should list Elavon as one of the payment methods. 



Edit the Amount To Pay field to enter the amount that the customer wants to pay using the Credit / Debit Card. For illustration, we have specified $263.06 as the amount.



Click the Elavon button, to process the payment using the Elavon Payment Device.  




Ask the customer to either tap, insert or swipe the EVM card on the Elavon Payment Device and then type the card pin number to authorise the payment. 


The Elavon Payment Device will display the Amount To Pay on the screen. 



The screenshot below depicts that a payment of $263.06 was made using the Elavon Payment Device



A sale transaction receipt is printed upon successful payment and would reflect the amount paid using Elavon as the payment method along with other payment methods.





If the switch Separate Receipt For Credit Card is flipped ON, an additional credit card transaction receipt is printed along with the regular transaction receipt. 




The screenshot below depicts a Credit Card Transaction Receipt



This Credit/Debit Card receipt is generated in addition to the standard transaction receipt that is printed from Tagrain POS and will only reflect sales made through a credit card and a debit card using the Elavon Payment Processor.
